Version 2.5 Updates
New Editor
In Version 2.5 a new, javascript-based editor was introduced as a replacement for the Flash-based editor. This is currently only available in the Distributable KEEP Toolkit available for download, and not on cfkeep.org.
Improved directory structure
Version 2.0 Updates
Publishing
-
Version 2.0 introduces publishing to help KEEP users make their work available to others and to be easily cited. When this option is chosen KEEP reports the work to Google (and other search engines), thus making it searchable. Unpublished works are labeled with a small disclaimer and the viewer is discouraged from citing them until the disclaimer is removed. To remove a disclaimer, one has to simply publish snapshots/stitched groups/galleries.
Licensing
-
Includes Creative Commons to help license work that is being published in KEEP. There are six licenses, in addition to traditional copyright, available for use when publishing snapshots. Selected license will appear at the bottom of the pages.
Simple URLs
-
Version 2.0 also allows users to create simple, memorable URLs for snaphots/galleries/stitched groups. These URLs can be written, remembered and easily typed into a browser. The process is simple! Users can create short and easy-to-use URLs for their work after choosing a user alias. Then as each work is published, a short title can be selected for each snapshot. KEEP user's personal page (http://www.cfkeep.org/users/youralias/) will contain published work and respective tags, and can be shared with others without a need for login.
Advanced Tag Search
-
In addition to the tag cloud and the tag search box for finding associated content in the Dashboard, a simple alias URL (http://www.cfkeep.org/users/youralias/tags/) can be used for viewing, searching, and sharing tagged published work or groups of published snapshots/stitched groups/galleries with others.
Version 1.9.8 Updates
Tagging for Dashboard Organization
Version 1.9.8 introduces tagging to help in organizing the content in the dashboard. Tags are words or terms associateed with snapshots, stitch groups, and galleries that can then be used to identify content and group related work together.
Tag Cloud
All of your tags are placed above your content in a 'tag cloud'. Clicking on one of the tags will float all of the content associated with that tag to the top. The more content in your dashboard that has a certain tag, the large the size of that tag will be in the cloud. A tag will remain in the cloud until either the tag has been removed from every item in your dashboard or all the items bearing a tag are deleted.

Version 1.9.6 Updates
Sakai Plug-in
KEEP Toolkit can now be fully integrated with Sakai, an online open source Collaboration and Learning Environment, used by a wide range of institutions to support teaching and learning, portfolios and research collaboration. A plug-in for Sakai 2.1 or later enables one-stop authentication for easy access of KEEP Toolkit from within a Sakai instance through the use of web services. (The plug-in package is available for the distributable version of KEEP).
Bug fixes
There are a number of bug fixes applied in this version of KEEP including improved Rich Text Editor functions, enhanced Gallery Tool, better error messaging, and security updates.
Version 1.9 Updates
Distributable KEEP Toolkit
Version 1.9 is the first formal version of Distributable KEEP Toolkit available by request. This release includes more options
for configuring the KEEP Toolkit in different environments and a greater number of templates including Project, Course Transformation and Portfolio, Class Anatomy, and CASTL Higher Ed templates (under Creative Commons Attribution License 2.5).
Search Functionality
Snapshots stored in the KEEP Toolkit can now be searched. Search is disabled by default but can be enabled in
the configuration file. When enabled, a search icon appears in the dashboard on the far right. The search component will
only index content that has been identified by users as being searchable.
Advanced Stitching Tool
Advanced Video Tool
The video tool has been updated to include a new display format, the Extended Display format. In this
format the video is displayed embedded in a new window, just as the classic format, but also with additional meta
information. The author, video caption, a description of the video, and reflections on the video are shown in
the page. To use this option, select 'Extended format' under the Display Options section in the video edit page.
You can also store a transcript that uses can retrieve via a link on the extended video page.
Version 1.8.4 Updates
Pre-release Distributable KEEP Toolkit
-
KEEP Toolkit 1.8.4 is the pre-release version of Distributable KEEP, made available to a select group
of institutions. This is a stand-alone version of the application; the only requirement to run this
version is LAMP. The package includes the source code, documentation, templates, and support resources.
Version 1.8.2 Updates
Gallery Tool
-
Select any number of snapshots that you want from your snapshots list, as well as snapshots from other KEEP Toolkit accounts, and include them in a gallery. Links to the snapshots will show up as items within the gallery page. The snapshots themselves remain intact and can be used in as many galleries groups as you want. This way you can link up related snapshots to create a gallery of connected snapshots by multiple authors.

Advanced Stitching Options
Upload Video
-
Uploading video has also gotten easier. You can now upload video using the "Edit Video" tool. You have the option of displaying the video with a generic video icon, a thumbnail image, or a text description of the video.
Redesigned Template Gallery
Version 1.6 Updates
Enhanced Rich Text Editor
-
The font drop down menus reflect the size, type and style of the font at the current cursor position (or the character immediately to the right of the current cursor position), and shows the same information for any highlighted text. If the text has more than one style then nothing is shown in the relevant fields.
-
The Rich Text Editor will now prompt you to save changes before exiting the editor. This is to ensure that you do not unintentionally lose unsaved changes.
-
You can now change the background color of the box you are editing. You have a set of seven colors to choose from.
There is new “remove hyperlink” button that will allow you to remove a link from selected text without having to delete the text.
The Rich Text Editor now includes a spell checker as well as a word counter to help you edit your work before you publish it.
The Rich Text Editor will retain the formatting specifications from pre-existing text documents when you paste into the text field.
-
The Rich Text Editor provides multilingual support through the Unicode character set. It will accept international characters and render them properly within the editor if you copy the text from its original source and paste it into the editor. However, upon export from the editor, the extended characters must be converted to their equivalent HTML or Unicode representations for proper display in a browser.

Image Re-size
-
Uploading images has also gotten easier. For greater flexibility in image uploading and to ensure better image quality, you can adjust the size of the image you want to appear in your snapshot according to a percentage of the actual image size. The new image is recreated on the fly and integrated into your snapshot.
