Goal: To develop, coordinate and pilot the new Self and Society Course at Transition.

Learning Activities/Strategies:

  • Bring staff together in August to begin planning.
  • Write notes from all course material and activities. Share with co-developers and staff on a regular basis.
  • Work with Marion Porath to apply for grant money to support development and materials for the course.
  • Meet regularly with Pamela Richardson to review course material and developement.
  • Investigate material and plans for three initial strands 1) Human Developement 2) Social Justice 3) Media Awareness. Review material and plans regularly with staff.
  • Collect feedback from staff, students and parents.
  • Present material periodically to parents.
  • Discuss needs of new university students with grad students to meet possible needs of year students.
  • Organize guest lecturers, including history professor.
  • Develop mentorship portion of the program.
  • Submit BAA outline to VSB.
  • Investigate possibility of university course credit.
  • Organize and review written material as the course progresses.
