Tag Help (Overview)
Tags are simple descriptions; as a user, you can choose what tags you want to apply to your work. You can organize snapshots, stitched groups or galleries in your KEEP Dashboard by applying tags to them. Once applied, these tags can be used to sort items by selecting the tags which floats them to the top of the list and highlights them. For example, you can label several snapshots with the tag "math" in order to be able to find them more easily.
Tags are basic descriptors or labels. They are generally single keywords like "math" or "assignment" that relate to the content of the item tagged. Occasionally a tag will be two or more words pushed together like "matheducation" or "spring2006." In the KEEP Toolkit, tags can be applied to snapshots, stitched groups and galleries. For a more detailed definition of tagging, examples, and its history see the wikipedia article on tagging.
In the KEEP Toolkit, tags are shown to the right of the title. If you have not entered any tags, this field as well as the Tag Cloud should be empty.
Dashboard Organization (Why use Tags?)
By placing simple descriptive labels on snapshots the user provides a quick summary of the content or use for themselves or others who the tagged work is sent to. Once items are tagged you can use the Tag Cloud or Tag Search to locate them in your Dashboard. Choosing a tag (in the cloud, search or the KEEP tags) causes all items with that tag to float to the top of the list and highlights them. This lets you rearrange your dashboard depending on what you are working on at the time. For example if you used a temporary tag like "working" on the snapshots and gallery that you were adding content to, they would be displayed first and highlight in your dashboard if you click on "working" in the Tag Cloud. After you are done updating the snapshots you could then delete the "working" tag and apply it to other snapshots. |

Tag your snapshots, stitched groups, and galleries (How do you apply tags?)
Note: If the word or phrase chosen for a tag contains characters other than numbers and letters or capitalization (for example -,@, & * etc), they will be removed when the tag is created. |

Edit tags (add, change or delete tags)
You can then add, edit or delete one or more tags in the textboxes in the Tagging pop-up window. If you are changing a single tag, you can make modifications to the text directly in the box. Add, delete or change tags by typing. After you submit the changes, they will be reflected in the Tag Cloud at the top of your dashboard and in the text to the right of the snapshots/stitched groups/galleries. |

| If you want to add or delete tags from a group of snapshots you can use the "Add Tags to All" textbox. Type in the name of the tag that you want added to all selected snapshots, galleries, or stitched groups. If want to delete tags from a group of snapshots use the pull-down menu to get the delete function. Note: if you are deleting a tag it does not have to be present on all of the snapshots, KEEP will ignore any missing tags during deletion. | ![]() |
Tag Cloud (find, sort, and organize your work)

The Tag Cloud is located just below the functions bar near the top of the dashboard. The Tag Cloud shows all of the tags that you have used on your snapshots, stitched groups or galleries. The cloud is sorted alphabetically. Tags which are used more frequently (on more Snapshots) will appear larger.
Click on a tag in your Tag Cloud to find all items in your dashboard using that tag. Tagged snapshots, stitched groups or galleries will be highlighted and will "float" to the top of the list. The snapshot, stitched group, or gallery icons to the left of the item will identify the item.

Tag search is located on the right hand side of the page at the top, next to the function bar. Enter a tag in the Tag Search textbox to locate all items labeled with that tag (note: you can also enter part of a tag here) and hit the "Search" button. To reset the search, just click on "Clear Search." Note that at this point you can only find your own tagged items -- not ALL public work in KEEP. |
