1) What are my options for relocating content from the KEEP Toolkit on cfkeep.org?
Right now there are two options -- you can either download a static HTML copy of your KEEP pages or you can set up your own instance of the KEEP Toolkit on your own server and copy content there. |

2) How can I get a static HTML copy of my snapshot that I can put on my own website?
There are a couple of ways that you can get a copy of your KEEP snapshots to host on your own site. One way is to use KEEP's Download tool from the Dashboard. This tool will save an HTML copy of your snapshot along with other referenced images and package them in a .zip file which you then download onto your computer. To use it you would first check the snapshots you want to save and then click on the Download icon ( ). A pop-up window will come up with a link labeled 'Click here to download' for each particular snapshot you have selected. You may then unzip the file on your computer and edit your snapshots with any text editor, or an HTML editor such as in Dreamweaver. Currently the download tool only allows you to download snapshots from your KEEP account, and not stitch groups or galleries.
Another option that will work for stitch groups and galleries is to simply use your web browser's 'File->Save As' function to save a local copy of your KEEP pages -- including galleries and stitch groups -- to your local computer. Most web browsers will also likely download any images or documents referenced on the page as well and save them into a sub-directory.
If you have a large number of pages in KEEP then you might consider using a more specialized tool to help save out your pages, such as Offline Explorer or A1 Website Download.

3) If I use the Download tool, will that remove my snapshot from KEEP?
No. The Download tool simply saves out a copy of a snapshot as an HTML file. The download tool does not remove content from KEEP. |

4) How can I put my Snapshot onto my institution's server?
Once you have saved out a static HTML copy of your KEEP pages using one of the methods described above, you can then upload those files to your institution's web server using an FTP program. You should contact your institution's relevant IT staff for more information about where specifically you would need to connect to and with what credentials. |

5) How can I put my Snapshot onto a CD?
Once you have a local copy of your snapshots you can simply write them to a blank CD using an appropriate CD (or DVD) burning utility. Since the snapshot is simply static HTML content on the CD you can use your web browser to open that directly. |
| |
6) Will the zip file open on PC and Mac?
Yes, the zip file will open on your PC or Mac by using an unzip utility. On a PC you can get Winzip or PKZip. There is a free unzip utility from PKWare. On a Mac you can use the StuffIt Expander, which is a free download. You can also use the 'unzip' utility in the Mac Terminal (which is a command line utility.) |
| |
7) How can I run my own copy of KEEP?
The KEEP Toolkit is an open source application that you can get for free from the project repository at SourceForge. KEEP is a LAMP application (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) application so you will need a suitable environment with these tools available. The KEEP Toolkit project wiki contains more detailed documentation on how to set up the application.
