How we are feeling so far as a team:

Prior to the first test, all of us were a little bit nervous about this group work business. Our first group meeting was a little rough because it was hard for us to figure out the best way to include everyones' input. However, the meetings are starting to run more smoothly and we all have a pretty good grip now on our group dynamic. The biggest lesson all of us have learned so far is that office hours are a great asset. We have a lot of potential as a team because each of us has something unique to bring to the table. None of us think exactly the same so this is beneficial during the case studies because each person usually picks out something different to focus on leading to a better overall understanding of the material. One of the biggest challenges has been to incorporate each of different personalities and make them mesh to form a close knit and well functioning group. All of us are working towards bettering our team skills and we are all hoping to improve our outlook on this new type of class. Our goals for the rest of the semester are to improve our meeting efficiency, be better prepared individually for the meetings, and continue to improve our group morale.

With Three Exams Under Our Belt:

After Exam 1 we decided as a team to attend more office hours and do more individual work to prepare ourselves for the team meetings and the exams. We have really come along as a team and we have all been working really hard individually. We had some rough times on exam 2 because Charlie was sick with the flu and was vomiting during the exam. Therefore, he wasn't able to participate as much in the group exam discussion. However, we did much better on Exam 3 and we are all learning our roles in the group. We feel that we have great group camaraderie and we hope that our next exam will accurately reflect how hard we have been working in this class.

Things that we have done well:

  • Preparing individually for the first exam
  • Discussing from the beginning each of our strengths and weaknesses
  • Finding multiple times when we are all available to meet
  • Reflecting on how we can improve
  • Working together better as a team
  • Keeping open conversation
  • Listening to everyone's ideas
  • Evaluating our progress after each assignment is handed back

  • Things that we can work on:

  • Better communication with each other....IMPROVED
  • Preparing individually by looking over the assignments before we meet as a group...IMPROVED
  • Including everyone's ideas...IMPROVED
  • Writing better papers, making sure the hit ALL of the major points...IMPROVED
  • Taking the extra time and going to office hours...IMPROVED
