Welcome to my e-Portfolio! My Name is David Lin and I'm a student in the Accounting and Financial Management
program in the School of Accountancy at the University of Waterloo.
After being introduced to KEEP Toolkit in AFM 131, I have created this e-Portfolio as an online repository of
reflections of how I am progressing and developing essential skills at the University of Waterloo. I strongly
believe that there are five core skills that are essential for success: teamwork, leadership, integrity,
communication, and the ability to make connections.
While each individual skill is important in itself, these skills are really symbiotic in nature, given each
skill's mutual dependence on the other skills. Without the ability to communicate successfully, it would be
impossible to be an effective member of a team. Without the ability to fully understand the dynamics of your team, it would be impossible to be committed and show integrity when working with these peers. Without self-accountability and commitment to your peers, it would be difficult to be an effective leader.
Throughout my educational career, I have strived to develop and perfect these skills through community
involvement, extracurricular activities, and work experience. This e-Portfolio is to document my continual
improvement of these skills throughout university.
I would like to thank Professor Bob Sproule (SOA), Professor Grant Russell (SOA), Dr. Tracy Penny Light (LT3), Katherine Lithgow (LT3), and Alan Kirker (LT3) for all of their tremendous help in developing my e-Portfolio.
If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my e-Portfolio or general comments, I'd be happy to hear from
you. I can be contacted by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at

Best Regards,
David Lin
