Post-Game Analyses Test 1 Game Analysis Stengths: -Good Team Work -Excellent Team Chemistry - High Morale -Good excecution of designed plays (each team member contributed equally) Weakness: -Time management -First Game jitters -Weak Zone Defense -Need to read questions more carefully Post Game Commentary "Shot clock killed me. " I over analyzed the case studies looking for problematic issues rather then reading the question then seeking resources out to back up my reasoning. Time became a issue and I was unable excute the last few plays. And ended up throwing bricks. -Meghan Bee "My concentration wasn't there in the second half." Overall, as a group we worked well together and we were well preprared. I had a problem with the actual questions and focusing and reading all the information given. I was still pleased with our performance. - Stephen Rockwood "I let the opposing team intimidate me before the game started. I set myself at too slow of a pace and found myself unable to pick it towards the end of the game (nearly ran out of time). I need to train harder on free throws (basic concepts) than three pointers (the few hardest questions). The team pulled through for me in the end in a big way." Brian Leland "My pre-game strategy hurt me. I was pretty lethargic during the game, and that affected my concentration. I should have studied the plays (read the questions) more carefully. Next time, I'm going to concentrate on training videos (case studies) more. The team really helped me out in the second half." - Sangeeta Sakaria "I had an uncharacteristic season opener - got into foul trouble ealry, missed some easy lay-ups, and had shot clock violations out the wazoo! I'm am definitely going to pick it up hard core for the next game - work on strategy, make sure my alarm works, and just relax." John Conner "Halfway through the first half, I choked, The shot clock was running out so I just threw the ball up there without making sure my form was good. Next time, I am just going to have to pace myself and drink lots of gatorade. the second half of the game, the team work was outstanding." Claire Gonzalez Strategy For Test Two - Scrimmage with the shot clock on (prepare to have better time management) - Be sure to communicate confusions of set plays with coaches (go to office hours on a regular basis) - Use the chalkboard at halftime (be sure to use book as reference on group portion of test) - Don't give any opposing team member less credit based on physical appearance (don't assume that specific questions are easy just because they seem to ask about a simple concept) - Stop using performance enhancing drugs (caffiene) morning of game. Test 2 Game Analysis Strengths: -Good communication on the court -More confident in team performance -As a team, we shot 100from the field -Utilized our coaches for advice Weakness: -We were still crunched for time -Confusion on the court with some concepts Post Game Commentary "Didn't study the playbook before the game." It took me a few minutes to get my act together. As a player, I did not demonstrate good clock management. I had to rush a few shots at the end of the game to finish out my performance. I was extremely pleased with the way we performed as a team. We set a goal and we accomplished it. -Steve Rockwood "We really pulled through as a team. I was disappointed with my individual performance. I felt really confident going onto the court, but I racked up some fouls (especially with capillary information) pretty early in the game. But, as a group, I was really impressed with our teamwork. Next time, I hope our individual performances can improve so we can win the overall championship!" - Sangeeta Sakaria "I am really satisfied with how prepared our team came out to play. I am happy that more of my shots were falling this time, however I still had quite a few problems with the shotclock which could have led me to more individual points. My pre-game prep was a lot more efficient for this game, utilizing adaquit sleep and proper use of my alarm clock helped me be more prepared for tip-off time. Also, just wanted to thank my mom and dad for their support this season, althought they couldn't make it to my games, they were there in spirit and sent all their love and support. I love you guys!" - John Conner "I definitely caused a few turnovers by not trusting my instincts. My head wasn't nearly in the game as much as it could have been with all the capillary information. Thank god for the free throws (bonus points). I need practice and a few new plays for the next game." - Claire Gonzalez Test III Analysis: confusion Post Game Commentary I am totally lost. I felt like individually and as a group that the performance was actually quite good, but sadly we in fact performed very poorly. To be quite honest, I am completely confused as to how our group, which placed third and first overall on the first two tests respectively, could have performed the worst in the entire class on the third test. I have consulted with my group and we all agree that there was indeed no let up in the amount of studying we did, so the results of our performances were a complete shock to us. It wsa like I was looking at the other team's scoreboard, and everytime we made a basket, they got the points. I have no idea what happened. Personally, I blame the entire thing on John. His moral support on the first two tests was something that we could not perform well without : ) He said he was sorry and I accepted, so we are friends again now. - Brian Leland The team was there but play execution wasn't what I expected it to be. Practices had been long and gruling in order to grasp the new plas set forth by the coach and assistants. I had a hard time getting the plays right and accessing the strenghts and weaknesses of the opposing team. I think there was an apparent lack of communication between the coach and assistancts. This made interpretation pretty subjective on our part. Therefore, when it came down to making the points what we as a team worked hard to grasp fell short of the team's expectation. This was very disappointing personally, and for the team as a whole. Next time we will just have to get the plays right and look more towards consistancy among the coaching staff to avoid further decline in overall team standings. We'll be more prepared for the next game and look for us to make a come back in the playoffs. I predict a final four appearance. -Meghan Bee Individually, I had a poor performance on this exam. I felt well prepared going into the exam, but I fell flat on my face in front of the big crowd. My field goal percentage was way down from the season average. I had an off night. The next exam should go much better because we need to redeem ourselves as a team. We'll have to spend more time practicing with our coaches before the next exam. Let's go Trotters! -Steve Rockwood I really felt like this was my chance to show the team what I was made of. I came off the bench this game and really thought that I could prove myself, but failed miserably. I tried so hard, but just felt like no matter what I did it wasn't good enough. I felt like the team's extra practice sessions before this test were really going to shock the world. We wanted to demolish this test and stay atop the rankings as #1 like we were last test, but we got our butts handed to us. This test was just plain tricky. I feel like there were so many right answers, but only one of them got the points. The team plans to go to the NCAA board and discuss alternatives for study habits so that we can perform better next test. If I had to compare this loss to one in history, I would compare it to Bucknell winning first round in the NCAA tournament: an absolute shock! -Sangeeta Sakaria I feel as though everything that could be said about our poor performance on this test has been said, thus I am at a loss for words and have no comments other than "watch your back, we are coming for you next time" or in the words of George W. Bush "you have awoken a sleeping Giant." -Claie Gonzalez I opted to sit out this game in honor of the death of a close friend. Although absent from the competition, I was there in spirit and hoped the best for my team. I hope to come back strong in the next few weeks. I hope to bring back energy as we prepare for the next showdown with the respiratory system. -John Conner Test 4 Analysis Strengths: -much better clock management -excellent team work -strong team score Weakness: -few and far between Post Game Commentary "After a season of preparation, everything was clicking for me. I felt very comfortable with the information and the time was no longer a factor for me. I was able to relax and just focus on the test. Overall, the team performance was superb. I attribute it to have our big man, John Conner, back from his injury. He lent us his moral support. There were a few questions where I was just not using my head, but that was due to lack of sleep. Hopefully for the final, I'll be well rested and ready to go." -Stephen Rockwood "Stats on exam 4 weren't what I was expecting. I thought I had performed better on the individual and team efforts. I didn't perform terrible but I was expecting more from myself since I've faced altitude before. I guess I just wasn't as acclimatized as I had anticipated based on the previous weeks training. Overall the team performed well as a whole. We watched our times, consistant for the most part, and when it was narrowed down to plays we took a time out to discuss the best course of action providing rational and feedback to one another, looking at what was best for the given situation. This exam was a great way to end the P431 season. Now it's time to look ahead to the pro-am physiology finals. Although team Hb will part, going their separate ways for the individual competition, I wish my fellow team members he best and will be practicing with them to enhance my own skill." -Meghan Bee "Overall, I'm happy with my performance against hypoxia and the respiratory system. I came in relaxed and confident and tried to keep my respiratory rate normal and not to sweat so much. This helped keep my cardio output up and let me think straight. I also kept a good eye on the shotclock and got to throw up a good, thought out shot for each problem. As a team, we gelled and came out with our best performance of the year which will give us confidence for out final game bright and early Monday morning. We'll be ready!" - John Conner "Overall, I am very pleased with the fourth test. The team was slightly down and upset about our performance on the third test, seeing as how we were dead last overall. We worked very hard on this test and even went to the extent of studying from the book as well as the case studies. We attended every review session and I spefically came to see you “Dr. Schlegel and that was very effective. Our team was once again in the top four teams for performances. I personally did the best on the fourth exam with a 102. I was absolutely ecstatic. On a personal note, I would like to say that this is without doubt the best class that I have taken in my three years at Indiana University. I finally felt like the material that I was learning was relevant to what I wanted to do; medicine. I absolutely loved learning about the cardiovascular system and the renal system. I am intrigued as to how the body is able to conduct itself in such a manor. Thank you Adam, Nilay, and Dr. Schlegel teaching the best class I’ve ever taken." – Brian Leland
