My Research Question:

The Problem

Do printmaking students produce higher quality prints as a result of the influence of visual blog based exhibitions and blog based critiques?

Methodologies & Types of Evidence of Student Learning Gathered

The Printmaking Blog is the forum for the project. The following are current examples of:

A library of contemporary prints:

An online "interactive" exhibition

An online interactive exchange between artists and students:

(see links below)

Fall 2007

Visual Library of Prints on Blog (Kim Berman)

Student Exchange Exhibition on Blog

Contemporary Print Blog Exhibit (Brian Lynch)

Blog exchange between students and artist Brian Lynch

I am interested in expanding the printmaking- learning environment to increase student access to prints and to engage them in conversations with printmakers and in the critique of artistic work. The project has three facets:

1. creating a digital library of contemporary print images

2. establishing visual and word based interaction between UWL students and students across the country

3. connecting students to a population of professional/academic printmakers that can influence students through visual images, critique and interview

It is my intention to accomplish these goals through the further development of a printmaking blog network. Using the blog, I wish to curate online exchange exhibitions between UWL printmakers and printmakers from other universities. In addition I wish to create interview and critique opportunities with UWL students and professional printmakers via the blog.

The impact of the exposure to the "blog" will be seen (or not seen) in the growth in the quality of students work.

Include as much bibliographical information as you can, and very briefly describe the purpose of each resource within your project. If you can provide links to these resources, great!
