The Full E-mersion: Electronic-Based Pedagogy in Developmental Composition

The English Division at Glendale Community College has undertaken an in-depth evaluation, revision, and implementation of an advanced electronic pedagogy for its developmental composition program. This site contains two major strands:

Making the Literacy Visible: The lesson plans and electronic materials developed to make this literacy highly visible for developmental students.

Making the Learning Visible: An in-depth capture and analysis of the student learning process for one semester.

Four Trajectoriesof Student Learning

We track the work and reflections of four students throughout the semester. See their profiles, writing, interviews, and in-depth analysis of their progress.

Capture Methods

Get suggestions and techniques for videotaping the student learning process.

The Ethics of Engaging Student Researchers

When students are videotaped and interviewed during the semester, is the learning process disrupted in any signficant ways? Alternately, do these participants receive any unfair advantages because of their close working relationship with faculty researchers? We explore these concerns.
